Good is Good Enough

There are a few people that can be credited with the saying above so I am not sure who to give the credit to, but for sake of credit I will say my marketing mentor Dan Kennedy says that good is good enough.

More importantly and my point in writing this blog post is the fact that if we apply this principle of good is good enough, it can have such a positive impact on our productivity and ability to get things done.

All of us should benefit from reading this and possibly stop trying to always be perfectionists with every little detail and just get things done already.  Yes, we want to deliver a quality product and yes, we need to proof-read to avoid errors and mistakes. But if we spend soooooo much time trying to re-think and perfect every little task, we get so much less accomplished and this robs us of being productive.

So stop analyzing and start doing more because,            Good is Good Enough !!

Lets take this blog post for example. I just logged into my dashboard to make a quick post, prior to leaving the office for the day. I could easily start my post, then save it as a draft hoping to go back and edit it tomorrow. We all know how this goes as tomorrow easily turns into next week, and by then my blog becomes stale and I am then further away from getting anything done with a bunch of unfinished projects.

Well today I am applying the strategy of, Good is good enough. I am going to do the best I can with this post in the 5 minutes of free time that I have…I am going to make my point and go onto my next task tomorrow, knowing that I did my best job in the 5-6 minutes I had to make my blog post and get it done in the amount of time that was available.

This principle is something we all need to apply more on a daily basis with our business tasks. Think of how many half-finished or unfinished tasks we have that could easily be completed if we just threw caution to the wind and accepted them for what they were and went on to the next project.

Successful entrepreneurs and business people that get things done apply this concept on a regular basis. There are some projects that need to be perfect and need to be scrutinized down to the last little detail and measurement…

but lets leave those jobs for the rocket scientists, civil engineers and bridge builders. For us, on our next task, lets just accept the fact that it is good enough, get it done and go on with the next task.  We will end up getting a lot more done and be so much more productive. If along the way a few people bring an error, mistake or correction to our attention, we can consider it a compliment as we go onto our next project knowing that we got a bunch of goals accomplished that day.

To your success in getting things done as Good is Good enough.
